The Amazing Spider-Man swung over New York City on patrol.  It'd been a while since he'd stopped Mysterio from using the Tablet of Of Order and Chaos to take over all reality.  He'd met three other versions of himself on that adventure.  Well, technically, two alternate hims and a possible successor from the future.

He'd just stopped the Swarm for terrorizing Broadway, and he was headed for Central Park to find a good hot dog, when a familiar voice echoed in his head.

"Spider-Man," Madame Web's voice said "there's something I need you to see."

Curious, the wall-crawler fired a web line and swung a u-turn.  Later, at Madame Web's apartment, Spidey crawled through the window.

"You wanted to see me, Webs?" he asked.

"Yes." Madame Web said.  "I'm afraid I don't have good news for any of you."

"Any of who?" the webbed wonder inquired.  Suddenly, there was a flash of light, and Spider-Man found himself standing next to Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Man 2099.

"Hey, guys! It's been a while!" Miguel O'Hara, alias Spider-Man of the year 2099, said happily.

"Yeah. Didn't think we'd see each other again." said the Spider-Man of the 1930's.

"So, how are things in your world?" an unfamiliar voice spoke up.  The three Spider-Men turned to see...a cartoon pig in a Spider-Man costume.  They turned to Madame Web, hoping for an explanation.

"Spider-Men of Earths 616..." she said, turning to the red-and-blue Peter Parker, "...90214..." she turned to the black-garbed Peter from the thirties, "...And 928..." then turning to Miguel, "...Meet Peter Porker of Earth-8311." she said, gesturing to the pig.

"Otherwise known as the spectacular Spider-Ham!" he announced proudly.

"Uh, nice to meet you." the amazing Spidey said.  He looked at Madame Web.  "Hey, where's that other guy? Y'know, the wise-ass kid?"

"That's what I summoned you all here for." Madame Wed said grimly.  "Young Peter Parker of Earth-1610, is dead."

The four Spider-Men looked at Web, shocked.

"What?"  Miguel refused to believe it.  "I-it can't be true.  It...it just can't."

"He was just a kid."  Noir Spidey said.  "No more than sixteen.  What kind of sick, twisted bastard could do such a thing?"

None of the four Spider-Men were surprised in the least by Web's reply.

"Norman Osborn."

"Of coarse."  the amazing Spidey growled.

"Right up his dirt-bag alley."  Noir Spidey mumbled.

"All the history archives said he was the original spider-Man's greatest nemesis."  Miguel remembered.

"Judging by the dangerously similar-sounding name, I'm assuming he's the same guy as my reality's Green Gobbler."  Spider-Ham deduced.

"If you'd all like, I could show you young Peter's final moments," the blind telepath suggested, "and show you how he proved his bravery, strength, and valor."  The four Spider-Men exchanged glances, turned to Web, and all nodded.

Images shimmered into view above Madame Web's head.  The four of them could see Ultimate Spider-Man, badly wounded.  Locked in battle with what they guessed to be his universe's versions of Electro, Sandman, Kraven, and Vulture.  He beat them all.  But then, he was suddenly in a one-on-one fight with an Abomination-like creature the other four guessed to be his universe's Green Goblin.  He gained the upper hand, but a younger version of Mary Jane drove a truck into the Goblin.  She got out and ran to Peter.  The two teenagers kissed.  Maybe they knew it would be the last time.  The young Peter than threw MJ to safety, picked up the truck, and smashed the Goblin with it twice.  He tried to run to safety, but the truck exploded behind him.

Young Peter lay on the ground.  He was dying.  Loved ones gathered around him that the amazing Spidey recognized as younger versions of Mary Jane, Gwen Stacy, Aunt May, Johnny Storm, and Bobby Drake.  Young Peter then breathed his final words to his Aunt May.

"I couldn't save him.  Uncle Ben.  I couldn't save him...No matter what I did.  But I saved you.  I did it.  I did..."

And then, Peter Parker died.

The images faded away.

The four other Spider-Men were glad it was over.  None of them could bear to watch any more.  They all bowed their heads to mourn the young hero.  He had truly lived by the same moral code they had all lived by.  With great power, well, you know the rest.

"Norman died immediately after," Madame Web said to the four Spider-Men before her, "So don't ask me to bring you to that dimension to kill him."

The four said nothing.

"If it's of any consolation, his legacy is now being carried on."  Web said, trying to comfort the four.  The four immediately looked up.

Another image took shape.  A young boy, no older than thirteen, swing high above the New York skyline in a red and black Spider-Man costume, similar to young Peter's, but also different.

"His name is Miles Morales."  Madame Web identified him.  "Some of those who knew young Peter have well accepted him as the new Spider-Man."

"Nice to know there's someone out there honoring him."  Noir Spidey said, lightly smiling beneath his mask,  "He was a good kid."

"Yeah."  Spider-Ham agreed.

"And now, I must return you all to your home dimensions."  Madame Web said, glad she had been able to turn the mood around slightly.  And with that, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Man 2099, and Spider-Ham started to fade away.  The four Spider-Men exchanged their goodbyes.

After a quick goodbye to Madame Web, the amazing Spider-Man web-swung home.  After seeing the tender moment between his younger self and the younger Mary Jane, he decided he needed to pay his wife a loving visit.
A follow-up to the “Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions” game. (Awesome game. Play it!) The other Spider-Men's reaction to Ultimate Spidey's death.

I'd also wanted to put Mangaverse Spider-Man & Spider-Man 1602 in it, since they were technically in it as alternate costumes. (Their descriptions say they're willing to step in if the others need a breather, since their worlds are just as threatened as the others.) But, I don't know the characters at all, so I thought it'd be better if I didn't.

I don't actually know Green Gobbler's real name. I don't think they ever tell you the villain's name in his universe. But, whatever it is, it has to sound similar to Norman Osborn, right?

Also, I don't know if Amazing Spidey is still married to MJ at the time of the game. I'm just writing it as though he were because it better fits the ending I had in mind.

EDIT: Sorry if I made Madame Web sound too much like the Watcher, what with saying witch Earths the Spider-Men are from. I was just dying to put in the specific Earth numbers.

Ultimate Spider-Man
2000 - 2011
May he rest in peace.
Uncle Ben would've been proud.
