Saw this movie a few months ago. And I was really liking it at first , but then...
Basically this movie not only confirms my suspicion of people's obsessive belief that subversions automatically make everything better, but it tells me that it's been going on for far longer than I thought it was. I mean, what, were they trying to do a "clever subversion" of the cliche that movies have remotely satisfying conclusions?
But hey, maybe it really is brilliant and just don't get it.

The Suicide Squad trailer reaction
Not sure if I even deserve to post anything here anymore. I was barely here even before I started working full time.
Sorry for my self-loathing, it's just that this trailer has renewed all the hatred of the first movie, which I have literally never understood. All I know is a lot of people suddenly pretended to care about editing and pacing and things like that.
Why would you replace the Oscar-winning makeup of Killer Croc with an all-CGI character?
A friend of mine has theorized that given his limited screentime, Captain Boomerang will die. I might actually start drinking if that happens. He was probably the second most lovable character
it's frustrating being so malleable
I think one thing that differentiates me from most people is that arguments on the Internet actually CAN change my entire outlook on things. Because I'm such a dumbass that I completely overlook one glaring piece of logic that, when pointed out to me, completely demolished my entire belief system. There was a time where I was actually naïve enough to think 'hey, maybe that guy running for President isn't as much of a racist as people say.' And I thought that because I was one of those idiots who mistook my own ignorance of problems for a lack of problems to be noticed. I mean, I live in New Hampshire. I know absolutely nothing about everyday society and all the prejudices in it. Sometimes it seems like a big part of the issue is that there's not a lot of room in this world for nuance. Everyone has to be all-in to the extreme, one way or the other. And it's not just real life, my opinions on entertainment and pop culture are just as flimsy. Like with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
weird thing happened after i saw 'Joker'
so we were in the car on the way home a few hours ago. and i was explaining the significance of at one point in the movie when he says that he had a "bad day". then mom accidentally hits a radio button on the steering wheel, and guess what song it changed to?
"Bad Day" by Daniel Powter
spooky, right?
good parts of bad movies (III)
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Actually I found this one more 'mediocre' than straight-up 'bad'. I'm sure there's a lot of people who would disagree with me on that, but that's fine.
Anyway, the thing about this movie I liked the most was Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. Billy Dee Williams' charismatic performance left some big shoes to fill, but I thought he actually lived up to expectations.
And yes, there was that whole thing where they announced the character would be revealed as pansexual, but it turned out he just had a relationship with a female droid and there's a quip about him "flirting" with Han and that was it. But it's not like

I prefer a subversion ONLY if it helps the story in some way or another.
